Ground Radar (GPR) Concrete Scanning for Reinforcing Steel - Milwaukee, WI

Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, Inc. – GPRS – of Wisconsin was contracted by a team of general contractors to scan a concrete slab at the Milwaukee Bucks stadium. The contractors needed to core drill into a pan deck, but the engineer in charge of the project was worried about hitting rebar during the drilling process. Therefore, GPRS was called to come out and scan the pan deck. As the scan was conducted, we located both rebar and wire mesh, and these results were marked onto the concrete surface. Once the scan was finished, GPRS Regional Manager, Christopher Geary discussed the results of the scan with the contractors to ensure that they understood the results of scan to ensure that the required drilling be completed without any issues. GPRS has conducted many scans at this site already, and because the customer knows that we provide accurate, and reliable scanning results, the customer has already scheduled several more GPR scanning projects with us. The site is about 50% complete. Below are images taken at the job site.

Conduits in Office BuildingGPR Scan for Conduits in Office Building - Milwaukee, WI

Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, Inc. – GPRS – of Wisconsin was contacted by general contractor to conduct a GPR scan before they installed new plumbing lines at an office building in the Greater Milwaukee Area. GPRS was asked to scan areas for potential conduits in multiple areas. The contractor feared hitting the electrical lines that were connected to the cooler units for the fresh produce as well as 480v lines in the back of the store. Additionally, the contractor wanted to avoid saw cutting through known empty conduits. This was because the conduits were to be used again. GPRS located multiple conduits, which would have caused thousands of dollars to repair. GPRS was also able to clear the trenches and identify the critical targets and this led to the project staying on budget, time, and safe.

Ground penetrating radar is a great tool to scan areas of post tension cables, rebar, and conduits, including PVC pipes and can also be used to locate underground utilities prior to digging or excavating. For GPR needs in Milwaukee, Racine, Kenosha, Green Bay, Fond du Lac, Sun Prairie, Madison, Middleton, Monroe, Stevens Point, Eau Claire or anywhere else in the state not listed, contact your local GPR Expert.
