Concrete Column Scanning for Contractor at Large Basketball Stadium - Milwaukee, WI

Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, Inc. – GPRS – of Wisconsin was contacted by a nationwide contractor to scan columns prior to anchoring and drilling into the structure. The project took place at a large basketball stadium project and complex. The purpose of the scanning was to identify critical targets such as rebar. The contractor needs to anchor and drill into the columns in order to build the structure to support the soon to be added skywalk connecting the parking structure to the basketball stadium. GPRS scanned from a boom lift to access the areas on the second level. GPRS used GSSI’s Palm Antenna and Structure Scan Mini on the project to provide the most thorough of concrete investigations. GPRS marked the rebar directly on the surface in real time and the layout can be seen in the photo to the right.

Ground penetrating radar is a great tool to scan areas of post tension cables, rebar, and conduits, including PVC pipes and can also be used to locate underground utilities prior to digging or excavating. Please contact Ground Penetrating Radar Systems – GPRS to learn how we can assist with your project. To locate rebar, post tension cables, voids, conduits, pipes or utilities in concrete or underground please contact us today.
